Hostel Cleaner – Addington Part Time

Addington Supportive Accommodation, Christchurch

Hours: 18 hours per week. Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday. Six hours each day (negotiable time during the day/evening).

Salary range: the likely salary for this role will fall between $45,000 to $50,000 pro rata.

About the programme

The Addington Hostel has been providing Emergency housing for Men for 125 years, as part of The Salvation Army mission in Christchurch. It provides up to 88 beds per night across a mix of two hostels, flats and a house. This is a 24/7 staffed service based at 62 Poulson St, Addington.

We also provide for a further 49 Community based houses across the city for whanau who are in need of housing. This is service that focuses upon the needs of mostly mama and their tamariki.

About the role:

Due to ongoing expansion of services, we are looking for a cleaner to join our Hostel Housing team.

• Hostel cleaner provides cleaning to the hostel/staff site to the men living on our Addington site. This includes multiple bathrooms, floors, kitchens etc

For this role you will need previous experience working in a commercial residential setting such as a rest home, hospital, school hostel. A Level 2 Cleaning Certificate would be an advantage.

For this role, you will be working in a male emergency housing hostel. There are a lot of female staff working on the site.

Person specification:

• The hostel cleaner role requires previous commercial cleaning experience of at least one year within a hospital, school hostel, rest home type of environment
• Be self-directed and work independently, to engage with a diverse group of whanau from a range of cultures
• There will be a full police check for this role
• Be very supportive of the mission of this site
• Be aware of cleaning protocols within a commercial health site
