About Waikanae Beach Motel 

With the main premises nestled across the road from Waikanae Beach, famous for its amazing surf, and coastal boardwalk, Waikanae Beach Motel is just minutes from Gisborne city centre. With 16 refurbished units within the motel and 11 holiday homes throughout the Tairāwhiti region, their variety of quality accommodation offerings and locations attracts a range of guests from curious travellers to corporate clients.

About the role 

With two roles available, offering the opportunity to either start from scratch or grow your existing skill set, tasks will be divided between the motel and Airbnb units, with some room to adapt requirements to suit the successful applicants.

Primary tasks include dusting, polishing, moping, vacuuming, sanitising etc, renewing consumables, rearranging furniture, reporting any necessary repairs and ensuring that accommodations are well presented.  The owners take staff and guest wellbeing seriously, and provide chemical free cleaning solutions for piece of mind.

With a small close knit team and 24 hour operations, there is a focus on flexibility and comradery.

Although cleaning duties usually start at 9am to 1pm but can range to 4pm on some days. Multiple sites mean that some travel is required, for which a vehicle (and fuel) will be provided.

Skills and Experience required:

A proactive, ‘can do’ attitude is preferable over experience, as full training is on offer. However, experience within a similar environment will of course help you to jump straight in!

Ideally you will be:

• Proactive with excellent communication skills
• Diligent and able to work without supervision
• Meticulous with attention to detail
• Physically fit and able

You will also require a full clean drivers license!
